The English-born singer-songwriter-guitarist-photographer and his boyhood pal Allan Clarke harmonized on such Hollies’ hits as “Bus Stop,” “Stop Stop Stop” and “On a Carousel” in the ’60s. But when the group showed no interest in cutting his “Marrakesh Express,” Nash quit and teamed up with David Crosby and Stephen Stills as Crosby Stills and Nash. They became a foursome with the addition of Neil Young right before their legendary performance at Woodstock. Born in 1942.
Skip Battin-Died in 2003
The singer-bassist (whose real first name was Clyde) was half of Skip & Flip, who did the 1960 hit “Cherry Pie.” He joined The Byrds a couple of years after their hits “Mister Tambourine Man” and “Turn, Turn, Turn.” He died July 6th, 2003 of Alzheimer’s disease at 69. Born in 1934.
